gurukulNext day morning, my father packed his clothes and few copies and a couple of books he had with him in a piece of cloth. He touched the feet of his father and started his journey back to his new hostel. ‘Pipriach Secondary School’ was home to several students like my father and it took very little time for him to adjust to his new environment. It was certainly better than his home in many respects. The teachers were very strict and the life was very simple and followed “Guru - Shishya” model of ancient “Gurukuls”. They had to get up early in the morning by four and after completing their daily chorus had to be back in the common hall where they did yoga followed by regular classes. The breakfast which came after the classes were mostly rice preparation which was made out of the donations received from the houses of the students. The fee for most of the students there were in kind than cash. Some brought food grains some sugar and some even donated cows for regular supply of milk to the students.
Each student was assigned his turn for feeding and taking care of the animals, kitchen work and even washing and cleaning the place. It was all done within the group of students which were around seventy five of them. They lived like brothers and loved their teachers.
