The eldest brother Hari was almost twenty years older to my father. He was married to a girl from a nearby village even before my father was born. He too like my grandfather was contented in leading a relaxed life and did not spend much time in the fields. Unlike my grandfather he was not even keen in wrestling and spend much of the time simply relaxing at home and smoking Hukka (Traditional smoking pot in India). His wife too was very supportive of her husband’s relaxed attitude and never bothered to tell him that he should work to earn his living. Both of them kept to themselves for most of the time and had several children in a span of next fifteen years. Out of them five survived with four sons and youngest one a daughter. Hari and his family had separate quarters in the same hut and they kept to themselves. After marriage, his wife persuaded him to live separately. They could not move to a new hut of their own as they had no means of doing that, but ensured that they had a separate kitchen for their own family. Hari and his wife were therefore not looked upon with good eyes as they had decided to remain separate for no apparent reason in the same house. Separating kitchen in the same house was considered very inauspicious. Their lives kept moving peacefully till the time the land supported them, then the fights started. There were more mouths to feed and no intention to work.
