Posted by Alok as Father's Biography

It was a five hour trekking and several hours on bullock cart before he could reach his house. My grandfather was sitting on the porch right in the front of the house. He ignored my father as he had not seen him at all. From his body language, it was clear that he felt bad that he had beaten his son so much that he ran away from the house but his ego came in the way of admitting that he loved him and would like him to do what ever he wanted. After all it was finally for his good only.
My father stopped in front of his father and lowered his eyes saying nothing. There was no exchange of words for few minutes. Suddenly, my grandfather held my father in his arms and started sobbing. “I am sorry that I hit you so badly. Please don’t run away, I cannot live with this stigma that I did not take care of you in your mother’s absence”. Slowly, all the bitterness melted away and things appeared to be normal. Hari came in after hearing that my father has returned. As soon as he reached, he started cursing and abusing my father for defying the orders of his elders. My father did not pay any attention on all his ranting. My grandfather stepped in “Let him study. If we cannot give him anything he deserves, we have no right to stop him also. Let him fulfill his dream – I am supporting him in what all he did. At least for now, I feel that I was wrong.”
My father stayed back in the night and next morning he packed his clothes and took some money for his necessary expenses and started back. From now he was going to live in his school till he completed his matriculation. Hari still was not convinced and wanted to settle scores with my father. He still felt that by defying the orders of his elders my father committed a crime for which one day he will make sure that he pays.
