Years rolled by and my father became the brightest student in his class. His achievements were only known to either his school teacher or Shyam. Rest of the world neither cared nor understood the importance of education to care any more. The days for my father were hard but as it has become some kind of routine, he never realized how hard he worked. Right in the morning before sun came up he was awake. After finishing his morning routine, It was his job to prepare something to eat for himself and his sister. Shyam helped him sometimes. Immediately thereafter he used to take his school bag and leave for school. It took him about two hours to reach the school as it was far away from his house. He was the only student from his village, but the brightest of all. Over few years the school also changed for better and had black boards and some more teachers and classes which made it appear like a school. My father found immense satisfaction once he reached the school. The School master and other teachers liked him very much as he was a good student and respected his elders very much. The school closed by late afternoon. It was then he used to sit with one of his teachers and study more and more. His ambition of becoming a big man was heavy on his head, but direction was not there. The only thing he knew that by studying hard he can become a big man.Popularity: 13% [?]

2Education is a great social leveller and it still is now, although internet is fast on its heels. However, the younger generation has taken education for granted; something that one just ‘have’ to do.
