freedomIt was a time of relief for almost everyone who knew about war. The death and destruction has finally come to an end and humanity will start limping back to normal. My father was however not very happy from within. He wanted India to be free and was very critical of Mahatama Gandhi type of freedom struggle. He was unable to understand that why one cannot retaliate back against British even if they were beaten black and blue. There were thousands of his type who were unhappy with the outcome of the war. Japanese were close to Subhash Chandra Bose who would have got India independent but they were now defeated. Similarly, Germans would have taken away Britishers from power, probably that would have been better with India as a free country. He did not agree to the concept of non-violence but preferred to keep quiet understanding the danger of being taken prisoner if defied openly. The student community was very active and supported the freedom fighters in all possible ways. My father too was filled with revolutionary ideas and two years of hostel life made him think differently. Now he was more free and ready to take risks for the vision he had. He feared no one.
